BVS K 012: 6 Days Tree Hotel-Masai Mara

ABOUT

This is a 6 days program that will take you to the center of attraction, relaxation and excitement where you have all the chances to spot the “BIG FIVE” that is the Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo. Enjoy visits to Mount Kenya National Park enjoy a guided nature walk in the Mt. Kenya rain forest, a wide range of plants and insects will be experienced. Sweet waters Game Reserve; This is a private sanctuary and the only park where you can see the endangered Chimpanzee. You’ll then see the Flamingoes in L. Nakuru National Park, home for the endangered species such as White Rhino, Rothschild Giraffe and the Columbus monkeys. Finally to Masai Mara Game Reserve, “Jewel in the crown of Kenya’s tourism industry” is known for its big wildlife concentration all the year round, the Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards and Buffalo and not forgetting the Big Cats.

TRAVEL PLAN

Day 1: Nairobi- Mount Kenya National Park

On Arrival, you will be met and welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our guide, after briefing, take a scenic drive through the pineapple and coffee plantations to the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya Forest arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure at the Mt Lodge. Dinner and over night game viewing above the floodlit waterholes and saltlick at the Serena Mt Lodge.Meal Plan: {FB}.

Day 2: Mount Kenya National Park – Sweet waters Game Reserve

After breakfast, proceed north towards Nanyuki town on at the foot of Mt Kenya to arrive at Sweet Waters Tented Camp in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive will follow; Sweetwaters (private) Game Reserve is also an attraction especially because of the Chimpanzee sanctuary within the reserve, the only one of its kind in the country. There is also the tamed rhino named Barakai, an information centre and an optional NIGHT GAME DRIVE, not available in the government owned game parks. Day 3: Sweet waters Game Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart shortly after breakfast to the floor of The Rift Valley making a brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls. Arrive L. Nakuru lodge in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara Game Reserve

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive along the floor of the Rift Valley before mounting its western rim into Masai land. Red-clad, with spears always on hand, Maasai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, commendably unmoved by the presence of large predators, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon you have the first game drive in search of the big prides of lions and other big cats among the different species of wildlife. Maasai Mara is probably the best-known game reserve. Day 5: Full day in Masai Mara Game Reserve

Take an extensive game drive into the reserve covered with rolling grasslands dotted with acacia and hazy forested hills and river-line bush where the Mara River and its tributaries meander, Maasai Mara is considered by many to be Kenya’s finest game reserve, the 1510 sq Kms of this reserve adjoin Tanzania’s well-known Serengeti, forming one eco-system. The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is the home of numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topis, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra. From June to September, the annual Wildebeest migration takes place when thousands of these animals sweep across the plain and seek out new grazing areas, a full day game drive with picnic lunch at the hippo pool on the banks of the Mara River where the crossing of the Gnus [wildebeests] takes place while the killer crocodiles await. Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve -Nairobi

Have an early breakfast before exploring another different area of this park, this is to capture the early morning actions, return to the Lodge for lunch, check out after lunch and depart for Nairobi arriving in the evening.

This is a sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of its own private reserve. It has long been the preferred retreat of wilderness and safari lovers alike. One of only four private game reserves in Kenya, Sweetwaters excels in the provision of privileged seclusion and private game viewing.

The safari costs will include:

  • All Park entrance fees in the game reserves and National Parks.
  • Experienced English driver-guide.
  • All road transportation and Game drives using custom made 4X4 Safari Minibus fitted with a two way radio communication and a pop-up roof for enhanced photography.
