TRAVEL PLAN
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara Game Reserve
On Arrival, you will be met and welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our guide, after briefing, depart and drive across the floor the Rift Valley before mounting its western rim into Maasai land. Red-clad, with spears always on hand, Maasai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, commendably unmoved by the presence of large predators. Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara Game Reserve
Take an extensive game drive into the reserve covered with rolling grasslands dotted with acacia and hazy forested hills and riverline bush where the Mara River and its tributaries meander, a full day game drive with picnic lunch at the hippo pool on the banks of the Mara River where the crossing of the Gnus [wildebeests] takes place while the killer crocodiles awaits.
Maasai Mara is considered by many to be Kenya’s finest game reserve, the 1510 sq Kms of this reserve adjoin Tanzania’s well-known Serengeti, forming one eco-system. The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is the home of numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topis, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra. From June to September, the annual Wildebeest migration takes place when thousands of these animals sweep across the plain and seek out new grazing areas. Day 3: Masai Mara
This is another day out, a very early wake up call to prepare for exploring other different areas of this wildlife paradise, this is to capture more actions and excitements, return to the lodge for lunch, afternoon at leisure, an evening game drive follows at 1600hrs. Day 4: Masai Mara Game – L.Nakuru National Park
An early morning pre breakfast gamedrive then depart Maasai Mara after breakfast and drive past the loita plains to the floor of the Rift Valley and into Lake Nakuru Nat park, “Ornithological paradise.” Arrive Lake Nakuru in the evening, check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds in the lake. Also many species of game found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Samburu Game Reserve
Depart L. Nakuru after breakfast and drive north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve with a brief stopover at the magnificent 73m plunge of the Thompson Falls, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive. The rugged semi-arid northern region with spectacular scenic landscape. The Ewaso Nyiro River dotted with doum palms meanders through the reserve giving it an oasis setting. (The Samburus are cousins of the Maasai tribe and are pastoralists) arrive in time for lunch at the camp. In the afternoon depart on an exciting game-viewing drive in search of Animals found only north of the equator that include the long necked gerenuk, Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. Day 6: Full day in Samburu Game Reserve
Full day in Samburu, a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and Reticulated Giraffe. Day7: Samburu Game Reserve -Sweet Waters Game Reserve
After breakfast, depart for the Sweet waters Game Reserve with a game drive en route, arriving Sweetwater’s Tented Camp well in time for lunch. This Tented Camp is situated on the equator line. Afternoon game drives in the private sanctuary including a visit to “Baraka” the tamed blind rhino, the information centre and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Day 8 Sweet Waters Game Reserve – Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, drive towards Nairobi and then head south across the Athi Kapiti plains, through Maasai homeland to Amboseli National Park arriving Amboseli Nat. Park in time for lunch and an evening game drive at 16.00hrs. This park is especially known for its prolific elephant population, and the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro setting. Day 9: Full day in Amboseli National Park
Full day in Amboseli with game drives at 0630 hrs and 1600 hrs. Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, is one of Kenya’s most popular national parks. It lies 150 miles south-east of Nairobi, very close to the Tanzania border. The snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds dominates every aspect of Amboseli. Day 10: Amboseli Nat. Park -Nairobi
On this day you will have your last early morning pre breakfast game drive, return in the lodge for breakfast, check out as you embark on your return journey to Nairobi.
