Day 2 (6hrs walk)
The drive from Moshi to Kilimanjaro National Park gate takes about 50 minutes. Once there, climbers are requested to make the final preparations for the climb. Start the walk through the forest to the Machame Hut (3,100m). Enjoy dinner and overnight stay.
Day3 (4 hrs walk)
After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the valley and on to the steep ridge going, to rock ridges and through heather. The route turns west into a river gorge, reaching Shira Hut (3,658m). Dinner and overnight in tent.
Day 4 (6hrs walk)
From the Shira plateau we continue to the east, passing the junction towards the peak Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to south east towards the lava tower called “the shark’s tooth”. Shortly after we come to the second junction which brings us up to the arrow glacier, an attitude of 4,876m. Continue down to Barraco Hut at an altitude of 3,860m and enjoy dinner and overnight here.
Day 5 (8hrs walk)
Leave Barraco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barraco wall passing through the Karanga valley and the junction which connects with the Mweka trail. Continue to Barafu Hut (altitude of 4,600m). At this point, the two peaks of Mawezi and Kibo are seen. Dinner and overnight enjoyed here.
Day 6 (11 hrs walk)
A very early start for the summit. First to Stella Point (5,745m) then on our way to the summit (Uhuru peak 5,985m). This part of the climb takes about 6hrs. Here, we is the highest point of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the highest point in Africa! From the summit we now make our descent down to the Mweka Hut Campsite (3100ms). This part takes 5 hrs. Later in the evening enjoy your last dinner on the mountain and a well earned sleep.
Day 7 (4hrs walk)
After breakfast, continue to Mweka park gate and drive back to Moshi for a hot shower, dinner and warm bed.
Day 8
After breakfast, drive to Arusha for lunch then to Nairobi via Namanga border town, arriving early evening.
