BVS K 076: 14 Days Tembo Safari


The cliffs are breeding grounds for vultures, Verreaux’s eagles, Augur buzzards and thousands of swifts. Over 120 species have been recorded here, L.Bogoria, a shallow soda lake hosting thousands of pink flamingoes, a number of other birds and lesser kudu. Scalding hot springs and geysers at the southern end of the lake spurt and steam their alkaline waters. The bubbling of hot springs, hundreds of singing weaverbirds and a million flamingoes feeding in the bluish water presents a rare scenic beauty. L.Baringo, This is one of the two fresh water lakes in the rift valley and a bird watchers paradise; it has over 460 recorded bird species and home to hippos and crocodiles. L. Nakuru National Park, this is the pink Flamingoes lake and home for the endangered species such as White Rhino, Rothschild Giraffe and the Columbus monkeys.


The Samburu Game Reserve is in a semi arid area where we find most of the rear Animals found in the north of the equator. At Aberdare Nat. Park enjoy this unique game lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife. Amboseli Nat. Park, a scenic and breathe taking destination with Mt. Kilimanjaro on your door step. A visit to the legendary land of the "Man-Eaters" - Tsavo National Park. The 21,000 sq km park is one of the largest in the whole world. Due to its enormous size, this animal and plant heaven was divided into two parts Tsavo East and Tsavo West, for easy administration and management. This wilderness is home to over 1000 plant species, 400 bird species and more than 60 major mammal species such as lions, huge herds of buffalo, the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino and at least 7000 elephants. The park is the location of Africa's most famous adventure story "Man eaters of Tsavo", in which two lions where responsible for eating over 500 workers who where building the Uganda railway also known as the "Lunatic Line " by its opponents in the British Parliament in 1898. The story was made famous in the 1996 movie "The Ghost and the Darkness."

 

Accommodation in this safari can be a combination of lodge and semi luxury camps on request.

Day 1
Nairobi - Masai Mara Game Reserve

On Arrival, you will be met and welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our guide, after briefing, depart Nairobi, drive along the floor the Rift Valley before mounting its western rim into Maasai land. Red-clad, with spears always on hand, Maasai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, commendably unmoved by the presence of large predators. Day 2
Full day in Masai Mara Game Reserve

Take an extensive game drive into the reserve covered with rolling grasslands dotted with acacia and hazy forested hills and riverline bush where the Mara River and its tributaries meander, Maasai Mara is considered by many to be Kenya's finest game reserve, the 1510 sq Kms of this reserve adjoin Tanzania's well-known Serengeti, forming one eco-system. The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is the home of numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topis, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra, From June to September, the annual Wildebeest migration takes place when thousands of these animals sweep across the plain and seek out new grazing areas, about 1.8 million wildebeests and Zebras will be swelling the Mara plains in the Month of September, a full day game drive with picnic lunch at the hippo pool on the banks of the Mara River were the crossing of the Gnus [wildebeests] takes place while the killer crocodiles awaits. Day 3
Another day in Maasai Mara Game Reserve

This is another day out, a very early wake up call to prepare for exploring another different area of this park, this is to capture more actions and excitements, return to the lodge/camp for lunch, afternoon at leisure, an evening game drive follows at 1600hrs. Day 4 Maasai Mara
Game Reserve -Naivasha
After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara for Lake Naivasha arriving at your lodge in time for lunch, in the afternoon you have a visit to the famous Hell’s gate national park. This park is famous for its natural steaming geysers and a haven for birdwatchers. The walking/ hiking give one sense of freedom, open space and a clear view of wildlife. The cliffs are breeding grounds for vultures, Verreaux’s eagles, Augur buzzards and thousands of swifts. Over 120 species have been recorded here, or enjoy a refreshing boat cruise on the lake. This area is famous for its bird life - a breeding ground for pelicans, fish eagles, cormorants and more, proceed to the crescent island where you will have a whole afternoon guided walk safari within the many animals of the plains, it is one of the few places in all Africa where you can wander on foot among herds of zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes (No predators no fences). Day 5 Lake Naivasha - Lake Baringo/Bogoria

Break early in the morning after breakfast proceed to Lake Bogoria, it is a shallow soda lake hosting thousands of pink flamingoes, a number of other birds and lesser kudu. Day 6: Lake Baringo - Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Lake Baringo after breakfast Arrive Lake Nakuru Park in time for lunch, an afternoon game drive. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds in the lake. Also many species of game found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Day 7 Lake Nakuru National Park - Samburu Game Reserve

Depart L. Nakuru after breakfast and drive north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve with a brief stopover at the magnificent 73m plunge of the Thompson Falls, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive. The rugged semi-arid northern region with spectacular scenic landscape. The Ewaso Nyiro River dotted with doum palms meanders through the reserve giving it an oasis setting. (The Samburus are cousins of the Maasai tribe and are pastoralists) arrive in time for lunch at the camp. In the afternoon depart on an exciting game-viewing drive in search of Animals found only north of the equator that include the long necked gerenuk, Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. Day 8
Full day in Samburu Game Reserve

Full day in Samburu, a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy's zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and Reticulated Giraffe. Morning and afternoon game drives, in the mid morning, an optional visit to a local Samburu village at an extra cost of $ 20 per person. Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Sopa Lodge. Day 9 Samburu
Game Reserve – Aberdare National Park
Depart Samburu Game Reserve and drive to Aberdare National Park arriving at the base Hotel in time for lunch. Afternoon transfer to the Treetop hotel for overnight, enjoy floodlit game viewing. Set in the heart of the Aberdare Forest, this unique game lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife - elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive bongo or giant forest hog. Day 10 Aberdare National Park – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, drive south via the biggest open air market in east and central Africa (karatina). Proceed to Amboseli via Kenya/ Tanzania border town (Namanga) arriving in Amboseli late afternoon. Day 11 Full day in Amboseli National Park

Full day in Amboseli with game drives at 0630 hrs and 1600 hrs. Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, is one of Kenya's most popular national parks. It lies 150 miles south-east of Nairobi, very close to the Tanzania border. The snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds dominates every aspect of Amboseli. Day 13: Tsavo West-Tsavo East

Day 14 Tsavo East-Nairobi/Mombasa

After a hearty breakfast, return to Nairobi or drop off Mombasa where you start your beach holiday.
