BVS KT 018: 11 Days / 10 Nights


Day 1: Nairobi-Maasai mara
On Arrival, you will be met and welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our guide, after briefing, depart and drive across the floor the Rift Valley before mounting its western rim into Maasai land. Red-clad, with spears always on hand, Maasai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, commendably unmoved by the presence of large predators. Afternoon you have the first game drive in search of wildlife. Maasai Mara is probably the best-known pristine, unequalled big game reserve. Day 2: Maasai mara
A full day game-tracking with your guide after an early breakfast. The Mara’s landscape is a scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivorous and predators. Elephants, lions, buffalos can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopards that complete the big five as the two animals are very tamed and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Maasai giraffes are bound as well as hippos and crocodiles and wide variety of antelopes including impalas, dik dik, hartebeest, Grant’s gazelle and Thompson’s gazelle among others. Picnic lunch at the hippo pool on the banks of the Mara River were the crossing of the Gnus [wildebeests] takes place while the killer crocodiles awaits. Day 3: Maasai mara-Lake Nakuru
Leave Maasai mara for Lake Nakuru after breakfast arriving in time for lunch. A game viewing will follow at 1600hrs. The park is an abode of various water birds that breed in the lakes salty water including flamingos, white pelicans and marabou storks, white rhinos, the rare Rothschild giraffe, leopards, Cape buffalo, lions and other plains game are found in this park. Day 4: Nakuru-Mt. Kenya
After breakfast depart for Mt.Kenya via Thompson’s falls, named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to lake Victoria in the 1880”s. Arrive in Nanyuki, the Mt.Kenya based town, for lunch. After lunch, visit the Mau Mau (freedom fighters) caves where our freedom fighters used to hide from the colonial forces during the struggle for independence. This is a 3hrs trekking experience. Day 5: Mt.Kenya-Nairobi-Arusha
Leave for Nairobi after breakfast via the central part of the country arriving in time for lunch. Connect with a shuttle bus at 1400hrs and through the Namanga border point for immigration formalities. Arrive in Arusha at 1830hrs where our Tanzania representative will meet you and you will be checked in at the hotel for dinner and overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 6: Arusha-Lake Manyara
Pick up from your Arusha hotel and depart for Lake Manyara National Park. Arrive in time for a game drive during which a fantastic array of bird life can be seen including flamingos that breed in the lakes’ alkaline waters. The park also offers a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley. The fig forest here is a good place to see monkeys and some of the 350 recorded species of birds. With luck, you may see the tree-climbing lions for which the park is famous for. Dinner and overnight at L. Manyara lodge. Meal Plan {FB}.

Day 7: Lake Manyara-Serengeti
Depart Manyara for Serengeti. Lunch enroute; arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Seronera Wildlife Lodge Meal Plan {FB}.

Day 8: Serengeti
Morning and afternoon game drive in the Serengeti with lunch and a leisure break at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Seronera Wildlife Lodge Meal Plan {FB}.

Day 9: Serengeti-Ngorongoro
After breakfast, depart Serengeti for Ngorongoro conservation area via the pre-historic site of Olduvai Gorge. The gorge museum has great wealth of the remains of various fauna and flora from the early man era. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge. Meal Plan {FB}.

Day 10: Ngorongoro
After breakfast, descend down the crater floor for half-day crater tour, returning to Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure with optional visit to a local Maasai village. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Meal Plan {FB}.

Note: Only half-day tours may be allowed at the crater.

Day 11: Ngorongoro-Arusha-Nairobi
After breakfast depart for Arusha for lunch and catch an afternoon shuttle to Nairobi to arrive in the evening, 18.00hrs check in the hotel on bed and breakfast basis.
