BVS K 073: 8 Days Samburu-Duma Safari


Drive to two of Kenya’s finest game parks, Samburu National Reserve and the Aberdare National Park on this 8 days safari. Samburu is a beautiful game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. Elephants, lions are also plentiful, leopards are often seen. After a 2 nights luxurious stay, you will proceed to Aberdare. In case of emergency, We provide 24/7 Flying Doctors emergency evacuation to the nearest hospital. Our departures are daily, subject to minimum 2 persons booking.


Day 1 Nairobi- Samburu Game Reserve

On Arrival, you will be met and welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our guide, after briefing, depart Nairobi and drive north via Mt Kenya, past coffee plantations to Samburu National Reserve, set in the rugged semi-arid northern region with spectacular scenic landscape. The Ewaso Nyiro River dotted with doum palms meanders through the reserve giving it an oasis setting and the Lodges are set on the banks of the river, the flora and fauna with sparkling spring water flowing and cascading throughout the lodges grounds. The Samburus are cousins of the Masai tribe and are pastoralists. Arrive in time for lunch at the Lodge. In the afternoon depart on an exciting game-viewing drive in search of game found only north of the equator that include the long necked gerenuk, Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. Return to Samburu Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal Plan: {FB}

Day 2 Full Day in Samburu Game Reserve

Full day in Samburu, with an early morning and late afternoon game drive. Samburu is a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. Optional activities include a visit to a local Samburu village, camel riding and guided nature and bird walks. All meals and overnight at the Lodge. Meal Plan: {FB}

Day 3 Samburu Game Reserve -Aberdare National Park

After a hearty breakfast, depart to the base hotel to arrive in time for lunch. Drive to the dense forest of the Aberdare to your Tree hotel for dinner and overnight game viewing above the floodlit waterholes and saltlick. Dinner and overnight at The Tree Hotel. THE ARK .Meal Plan: {FB}

Day 4 Aberdare National Park -Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Aberdare National Park after breakfast drive west through the aberdare ranges with a brief stopover at the beautiful 73m plunge of the Thompson Falls ,past Nyahururu town and into Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch, an afternoon game drive. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds in the lake. Also many species of game found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Day 5 Lake Nakuru National Park -Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast, depart your Lodge and drive along the floor the Rift Valley before mounting its western rim into Maasai land. Red-clad, with spears always on hand, Maasai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, commendably unmoved by the presence of large predators. Afternoon you have a game drive in search of wildlife. Maasai Mara is probably the best-known game reserve. Dinner and Overnight at the Mara Sopa Lodge. Meal Plan: {FB}

Day 6 and 7 Full days in Masai Mara Game reserve.

Take an extensive full day game drive in the reserve covered with rolling grasslands dotted with acacia and hazy forested hills and riverline bush where the Mara River and its tributaries meander,
Maasai Mara is considered by many to be Kenya’s finest game reserve, the 1510 sq Kms of this reserve adjoin Tanzania’s well-known Serengeti, forming one eco-system. The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is the home of numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topis, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra. a full day game drive with picnic lunch at the hippo pool on the banks of the Mara River were the crossing of the Gnus [wildebeests] takes place while the killer crocodiles awaits. Day 8 Masai Mara Game Reserve -Nairobi

Have an early morning pre-breakfast game drive exploring another different area of this park, this is to capture the early morning actions, return to the Lodge for breakfast, check out after breakfast and depart for Nairobi arriving in the evening.
