From the open plains of the Masai Mara to the waters of Lake Nakuru and the swamps of Amboseli, this safari takes in three of the most picturesque regions in Kenya. It also provides the perfect opportunity to spot the Big-5 and to capture some diverse scenery. The safari then extends to Zanzibar.
Day 1: Nairobi
Upon your arrival in Nairobi, you will be met and transferred to your Nairobi hotel were you will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Safari Park Hotel /Windsor Golf and Country Club.
Day 2&3: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you will travel towards Kenya’s fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment on a road . You will pass the impressive Longonot earth satellite station as you head across the Rift Valley to Narok, and then travel across acres of wheat and barley, before you reach the Masai Mara in time for lunch.
Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon ‘Spice’ game drive then returning to the lodge by sunset. The next day you will have morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives, relaxing around the pool in the heat of the day. Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/Keekorok Lodge/Mara Simba Lodge on a full board basis.
Day 4: Masai Mara-Lake Nakuru
Depart the Masai Mara after breakfast and travel across the breadbasket of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley litter the landscape as you head north to Narok, the district headquarters of Maasai. Enjoy the views of the landscape as you cross the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley. You will see herds of giraffe and gazelle as you head up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at your destination, Lake Nakuru.
The waters here are often coloured shimmering flamingo pink, from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores. Once in the Park, there will be a ‘spice’ game drive en route to the lodge. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon ‘Spice’ game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at Sarova Lion Hill or Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 5&6: Amboseli National Park
Depart Lake Nakuru, cross the top of the Rift Valley Escarpment, which provides spectacular views of lakes Elementaita and Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley, with the dormant Longonot volcano at centre stage. Have lunch in Nairobi and then head south across the Athi Plains to the border town of Namanga. Here you will turn east to Amboseli National Park at the foot of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. With a ‘Spice’ game, drive enroute you will arrive at your lodge late evening. The next day you will enjoy morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives in Amboseli, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge/Oltukai Lodge.
Day 7 Amboseli- Nairobi
Following breakfast, you will catch your last views of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you depart Amboseli, viewing game en route to the border of the park. From here, you will turn west to the colourful border town of Namanga, where you will find some unique Masai beadwork. You will then turn north arriving in Kenya’s bustling capital city of Nairobi by midday. Overnight at Safari Park Hotel/Windsor Golf and Country Club.
Day 8-11: Nairobi-Zanzibar
After breakfast, transfer to the JKIA for onward international flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your beach resort. Spend four nights at Mapenzi Beach Club. The club has garden view rooms on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 12: Departure Date
You will be picked from your beach resort and transferred back to Zanzibar airport for your international departure flight. Add on flights to Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi are also available.
